Dawn corresponds to morning twilight and precedes sunrise. It is characterized by the presence of daylight, although the Sun is still below the horizon.

    Day

The cycle’s longest part, the day, lasts only 10 minutes. The day begins at midnight when a player first enters a world, and it ends at midnight when they leave. Having this buffer between him and any potentially dangerous critters buys him precious time as he looks for the life-sustaining materials he needs.

Daytime brings clear blue skies with a prominent Sun. All 15 south-facing blocks actually are extremely luminous (maximum). You can still see the Moon, but only from a very high vantage point, and it will appear much dimmer than usual. No matter how high up the player goes, none of the stars will be visible. The amount of light at a given location might be diminished when clouds cover the Sun.

Daylight is sufficient for plant growth, including that of trees, wheat, and other cereal grains. Unless it’s raining or the zombies keep coming, the residents will venture outside. Herds of primarily terrestrial mammals like pigs, cows, sheep, etc. On the flip side, aggressive mobs will only spawn in low-light areas. Sometimes monsters appear in black oak woodlands because of the dense undergrowth.

This day’s value is a zero tick.

    Dusk

As the name implies, twilight is the time between day and night, and it lasts for about a minute and a half. The twilight hours begin as the Sun dips below the western horizon and the first lights of evening become visible. The yellowish light of dusk gradually transforms into orange, and then into a brilliant crimson. As the Sun goes down, the twilight fades and takes on a rosy hue. And at precisely the same time, the sky darkens, the stars come out, and the Moon rises in the east. In cloudy conditions, you can still see the twilight.

Every ten seconds, the brightness of all solar-facing blocks decreases by one step. If you compare the darkness of a forest to that of a grassland or a desert, the forest wins hands down.

Once the flames die down, the undead and the undead skeletons spawn in droves (however, zombies and skeletons previously set on fire by the Sun continue to burn until the fire runs out or they find a point of ignition). water). Antagonizing spiders have emerged.

Villagers disperse and return to their homes. Aside from being able to sleep as the sun sinks below the horizon in Survival, it is also highly recommended that you get some shuteye as soon as possible before any creatures spawn, particularly in Hardcore mode or in regions with a high difficulty cap.

Twelve thousand ticks is the twilight value.

    Night

When there is no twilight light, we call it nighttime (of solar origin). To see the Sun, though, you’ll need to ascend to a very high height. The Moon is the only source of light, and it is much weaker than the Sun’s. The Moon goes through phases that have an effect on gameplay, notably the rate at which Slimes are created. Stars can be seen.

Extreme darkness has descended throughout the globe, with even the most moonlit blocks barely achieving a brightness rating of 4. Only well-lit locations, like those near lava lakes, are safe from the spawning of hostile creatures.

During a storm, the sky will become completely opaque, and there will be very little outside light.

As of last night, the price was 14500 ticks.

    Dawn

The Moon’s final descent below the horizon marks the end of the brief but significant dawn that occurs when night turns to day. Shortly before sunrise, the western horizon is illuminated by red auroral lights. The sky gradually turns blue as the Sun rises, the moon sets and dips below the western horizon, the aurora borealis turns orange, then yellow, the stars fade, and eventually disappear. Even in severe weather, you can still see the morning.

Every ten seconds, the brightness of all blocks that are out in the sun increases by one step. After rising, the Sun gradually decreases in size until it fills an area of 8 by 8 pixels. The peasants start to emerge from their houses in the early morning, when the sky is still dark and the first rays of dawn are barely visible.

As dawn approaches, hostile creatures progressively disappear, and exposed zombies and skeletons start catching fire. In this state, the spiders are essentially helpless.

The market value of dawn is 23,000 ticks.

    A story of reflection:
Leonardo da Vinci foresaw it: the earthshine is the reflection of the Sun on the Earth. While the lunar crescent directly receives the rays projected by our star, the rest of our natural satellite is very slightly illuminated by the sunlight that the Earth sends back into space, like a mirror. And as a small drawing is better than a long speech, the following illustration allows us to understand the phenomenon:

Illuminated by this solar reflection, the lunar disc takes on a light gray color (reminiscent of ash) between the luminous horns of the crescent. This aspect is at the origin of the name of ash light that we gave to this observable spectacle at each lunation. After the New Moon, we admire it for three or four evenings and then the crescent becomes too bright. Before the next New Moon, it is at the end of the night that the phenomenon becomes visible again.

    Evening or morning:
The earthshine of the evening (beginning of the lunation) is the easiest to observe. Just wait for the sunset. Less than an hour later, the sky is dark enough for observations to begin, until the Moon passes behind the western horizon. It is therefore at this moment that most of the images of the phenomenon are taken.

Morning ashen light (just before the New Moon) requires rising long before the Sun returns. But this little effort finds its reward once on the ground. Like this Sunday morning September 5, 2021, where, with my partner Christine (the model in this photo), we abandoned our bed at 5 a.m.! It was on a small path in Ain that we set up the photo equipment, while the last stars were fading. On the technical side, the image above was obtained with a 50 mm lens mounted on a Nikon D7100 body and an exposure of 2 seconds at 3200 iso.
